Legion

"An out-of-the-way diner becomes the unlikely battleground for the survival of the human race. When God loses faith in Mankind, he sends his legion of angels to bring on the Apocalypse. Humanity's only hope lies in a group of strangers trapped in a desert diner and the Archangel Michael (Movie Synopsis: Fandango)."

It is a "Supernatural" action packed movie. The action was okay but nothing special about the gunshot scenes. I personally think the plot was unrealistic and caused a lot of confusion, and I couldn't get the point across. May be I don't like religious kind of story line. How could a so-called angel follow orders from his God to kill human kind? Did the writer contradict the Bible? I find it's ridiculous. Don't talk about reality, the plot was also lack of explanation why the baby can save the world (Overall movie rating: 2/5).

Hot Toys - Michael Jackson Pt.3 (Thriller Version)

Continued from part 1 and part 2 reviews, this is the zombie head comes with MJ figure in Thriller version. For zombie head, the hair is sculpted similar to MJ head. It is detail with right amount of curly strands in front. As you can see, the face has a corpse like appearance and the skin is sagging around the lower eyelids. Both eyes stick out a little bit and they are set staring straight and downward. Besides darker lips, you can find shades of darker skin colour on the cheeks and around the eyes including those lines drawn on the sagging facial skin.

On the zombie version, you can have the same outfit as what you got from MJ head version. The zombie outfit includes red jeans, red t-shirt, white socks and black shoes. The only difference is the zombie jacket comes with this version. You can also find weathering and dirt on the front and back of the zombie jacket. The work on the zombie jacket is nicely done and the damaged jacket matches pretty well with the one in the music video. As I am not a zombie fan, I will not buy the second slim African American Truetype body at the moment. But will get that if I have enough room to display the zombie MJ in the future.

Daybreakers

"The year is 2019. A mysterious plague has swept over the earth, transforming the majority of the world's population into vampires. Humans are now an endangered, second-class species forced into hiding as they are hunted and farmed for vampire consumption to the brink of extinction. Its all up to Edward Dalton, a vampire researcher who refuses to feed on human blood, to perfect a blood substitute that might sustain vampires and spare the few remaining humans. But time and hope are running out until Ed meets Audrey, a human survivor who leads him to a startling medical breakthrough. Armed with knowledge that both humans and vampires will kill for, Ed must battle his own kind in a deadly struggle that will decide the fate of the human race (Movie Details: Golden Village website)."

The idea of vampires taking over the world is nothing "new" to me. But the interesting part of the plot is more than 90% of the world's population is vampires and thus causing an extinction of human race. As expected, there are nobody walking around in the street during daylight and vampires come out in the night. The only twist that surprised me was there is a "cure" to the vampires and they could change back to the human race. We can expect a lot of bloody and violence scenes since it is a gory film. To me, "Daybreakers" is still entertaining and my overall movie rating is 2.5/5.

First visit to Singapore Flyer on 1 Jan 2010

The Singapore Flyer 新加坡摩天观景轮 features 28 air-conditioned capsules and
a complete rotation of the wheel takes approximately 30 minutes.

There are some capsules reserved for corporate events and family celebrations.
From the photo above, this is one of the capsules reserved for couples' sky
dining packages.

Of coarse, we can see the main Formula One pit building and grandstands while
the wheel turns.

From the top view, we can see Singapore skyline and few iconic landmarks like
Singapore River, Raffles Place, Esplanade and Marina Bay Floating Stadium, etc.

I believe the views from the Singapore Flyer will be even better if the
"Integrated Resorts" were fully completed this year :P

Tekken: The King of Iron Fist Tournament

"Tekken (鉄拳) is an upcoming martial arts film directed by Dwight Little, based on the popular fighting game series of the same name. The film follows Jin Kazama (Jon Foo) in his attempts to rid himself of the devil which plagues his soul and confronting his father, Kazuya Mishima (Ian Anthony Dale) and his grandfather, Heihachi Mishima (Hiroyuki Tagawa). As of 14th January 2010, an international preliminary-seeming trailer has finally been released. The theme song for the film is "You're Going Down" by Sick Puppies as play in the trailer.

The film was screened at the Mann's Criterion Theatre in Santa Monica on 5th November, as part of the AFM Film Festival in order to find a solid distributor. The release of the movie is currently uncertain in America, although it is due to be released in Japan on 6 March 2010, distributed by Warner Bros. The film is to be released directly to DVD and Blu-ray in the UK on 5 April 2010 (Article Source: Wikipedia)".

As I am a huge fan of Tekken, I definitely hope the movie will be released in Singapore this year. I look forward to watch it soon. You may watch the movie trailer via Youtube here.

Hot Toys - Michael Jackson Pt.2 (Thriller Version)

Although I don’t know if the likeness of Michael’s head in Thriller version is close to the real person, I am sure it’s better than the one in Billie Jean version.

In the forum, a lot of collectors complain about the smiling face produced in this version but I have no issue with it. Besides the realistic head sculpt, the neck joint is fairly tight and the head rotates very well.

The curly hair and lips are well sculpted with right amount of paint work. The texturing around the moustache and chin is nicely done too. In addition, the glossy wet eyes with neat eyebrows are what make the head sculpt looks more realistic.

The outfit is tailored with great stitching to fit the figure. There are two buttons near the bottom of the jacket. You can open up or fasten the buttons depending on your preference. To me, I like to keep Michael’s jacket fully closed with sleeves pushed up to his elbows.

I have no problem with the articulation of the figure. I can get the figure to hold most of the poses I want. As for the accessories, there are 9 sets of skinned hands to swap depending on the pose you are going for.

Overall, I am happy with my first M-Icon figure and I will do a review on the Zombie set in my next post. You may read my part 1 review here.

The Spy Next Door

"Bob Ho (Jackie Chan), an undercover operative for the CIA, decides to give up his career and marry his girlfriend, Gillian (Amber Valletta). However, before Bob can do that, he has one more mission to complete: gain the approval of Gillian's children. Bob volunteers to babysit when Gillian is called away, but the operation hits a snag when one of the kids mistakenly downloads a top-secret formula, and a Russian terrorist takes aim at Bob's prospective family (Movie Overview: Fandango)."

This is the first movie I watched in 2010. The plot is predictable and hilarious. It's simply great for kids. To me, the weak point is there was no chemistry between the female lead "Amber Valletta" and Jackie as I guess English language might be the disadvantage to Jackie. Despite this, Jackie's "environmental" action make up for the movie and it's fun to watch. The bad guys were humorous and I laughed a lot. Overall, it is an enjoyable film for all ages and my movie rating is 3/5.

WWE - Randy Orton

If you are a WWE fan, RAW Superstar "Randy Orton" shouldn’t be a surprise to you. Orton is a top villain in WWE universe. He is tough, arrogant and cunning. There is no denying that Orton is one of the most successful Superstars in WWE history as he has defeated a lot of famous wrestlers including a few legendary Hall of Famers via his signature move “RKO”. Orton is the former WWE Champion and World Heavyweight Champion. He also formed “The Legacy” with his two associates "Cody Rhodes" and "Ted DiBiase". You may click here to find out more about this third-generation wrestler.

WWE - Jack Swagger

Jack Swagger's first ECW debut was in September 2008. I like this bad guy as he is huge in size and possesses great strength to slam the opponents using his unique “powerbomb” moves. Jack won the ECW championship in early 2009. Unfortunately, Jack lost his ECW title to Christian in less than four months time. However, I still believe Jack has a lot of talent and potential in climbing the top and becoming one of the popular superstars in WWE universe. He is currently in every Monday nights “Raw” (Information Source: Wikipedia).
